Simple and austere, the wooden stairs connect the day-time zone to the night-time one.
The idea was make a stairs “box on box” composed of monolithic wooden steps prepared for easy montage for any handyman. After long thoughts on the selection of the materials and the way of the montage I have chosen the spruce tree which is used to roof truss design. Which in turn resulted in a cost. And I have just ordered in local sawmill elements of a certain size treating them like a intermediates. The resulting wooden steps were montage in the way : one box to another box to make a full construction of the stairs. Boxes were glued together and connected by three rods. Every few stairs steps were additionally secured to the wall with anchors for wooden piles. The only problem was the drying of such large dimensions. To obtain a satisfactory result the wood was three times drying in the kiln dryer set to incomplete drying program. Additionally, after each drying the woods was poured over water , (that’s the way to inure the wood) so that “box” just cracked the top side. In the final result, the stairs were five times less expensive than those booked a carpenter.
The reason for drying parts of the stairs was the only technical solution, but the final effect “weather effect” can add a whole charm. For typically, small-size wood, such as components for the door or furniture, a cross-section is just enough to throw into the dryer for a short time to get material and that will not deform and cracked. In the case of my cross-section elements, this method would be insufficient. It would be dried only the top layer, and the middle of wood would still be wet what could cause deformation and breakage during use. Element stairs could even break in half. This “hardening”, (three times, inserting wood drying and spraying it with water each time,) made the wood in the process that the wood is deform and lightly cracked in definitive way. Such that way that the wood becomes completely safe material during use.”
