Appreciation towards Marianne van Ooij for providing the following description:
受石膏注浆工艺的启发,而创造了这一系列介于成品与制造工艺之间的非功能性花瓶。
Inspired by the process of slipcasting, these Outcast vases merge production process and product in one.
石膏注浆成型的模具通常在使用后就被丢弃。这些白色优美刚柔并济的花瓶从模具中来并表达出通常不为人们所见的模具之美。
The juxtaposition of the tough, yet serene look of the white slipcasting molds and the elegant shapes they give birth to, was the inspiration for these Outcast vases. Rather than discarding the molds, these vases tie process and outcome together forever, shedding a new light on the unyielding beauty of these opposite shapes.
关于注浆成型,请点击蓝色连接看百度百科解释。
Slipcasting is a technique for the mass-production of pottery. A plaster mold is composed of a block of plaster that has the desired design carved inside and is then cut in half. These parts are held together by straps, aided by keys to ensure exact registration. Liquid clay – slip – is poured into the molds and allowed to form a layer – the cast – on the inside cavity of the mould. Once the slip has dried the molds are opened and the cast object is removed and fired. The molds are usually discarded after production.
