“ I was born in 1968 in London, grew up in the English countryside then studied graphic design at Central St. Martins. After graduating I had several dull jobs in publishing but also worked at the satirical TV programme Spitting Image as a ‘headbuilder’. This involved making various puppets such as Rolf Harris and two headed fish.

I now make sculpture in a once obscure part of East London called Hackney Wick, which has suddenly become known because the Olympics is being staged there.

My work is usually small scale and carefully finished. Its made of polymer clay and resin, then painted using an airbrush.

I enjoy inventing individuals that could be part of a narrative, but its the viewer’s job to make that story up. I hope my work is both humourous and beautiful. I want my characters speak for themselves. I don’t have any concepts, just suggestions. Recently the direction of my work has been somewhat more flat and graphic, shapes balancing on top of each other to make faces.

I’m inspired by friends, faces, beautiful bodies, fat bodies, hairy bodies, animals, fashion, toys, cartoons, contortionists, freaks, animals, transvestites, sport, Bears, lettering. I love Jeff Koons, Pierre et Gilles, Takashi Murakami and self-taught artists such as Henry Darger, Sultan Rogers, and Johann Hauser. ”
