A Glacier Adrift By William Lee For Young Stellar Object

A set of beautifully hand-crafted soap inspired by the massive bodies of melting glaciers &icebergs in the Arctic. As one washes with the soap, the glacier/iceberg gradually dissolves with each use. A direct correlation that our actions are affecting such environmental shifts. We make an impact on the environment daily whether we care to acknowledge it or not. There’s an ephemeral quality and fragility that’s brought to light here. Once “melted away” it is irreversible.

这款香皂系列提醒我们应该更加温柔地对待我们的星球，让我们意识到地球正面临的全球变暖、温室效应、垃圾处理等一系列问题。

A reminder to be gentler to our planet. The design elevates awareness of what’s currently happening to the Earth : Effects of global warming, Green house gases, the impact of our waste on the planet.

设计师说：“我想设计一件独特的作品，一个类似真正冰山的美学香皂。我将来自北极的冰山一角直接移动到人们的手中。拿起它时，你会感觉它是一件珍贵的珠宝，一件你想要保护的东西。它是精致的艺术品，也是用来清洁并逐渐“融化”的日用品。终有一天，冰山会用尽消失。若有心反思，我们不难发现其传达的信息是尽可能地节约资源。人类为了自己的利益攫取自然资源，却往往容易忘记会带来什么样的后果。”

From the designer, “I wanted to create an object that was unattainable to many. An aesthetic that resembled a real glacier. To transport a piece of iceberg straight from the Arctic into your hands. When you hold it, it looks & feels like a precious jewel. It’s something you want to guard, something you want to protect. Delicate yet designed to be used, designed to be washed and dissolved away. One day that glacier will be gone. If we take a step back, the broader message here is to simply use less. We rely on the planet’s resources for our own gain and easily forget about the consequences.”
