Appreciation towards Yanxiao Jing for providing the following description:

This work is hand painted silk mounted on Plastic discs. The two layers of portraits are created from photos of Chinese-Canadians women including myself. On one side, images depicted the time these women were in china. On the other sides, images depicted the time they were in Canada. The layered images create the feeling of the two identities merging together. As we feel suspended between cultures, I chose to suspend the work.

Choosing a material is like choosing a right word from my vocabulary to express my thoughts. In an effort to shape myself, I take traditional Chinese materials and techniques and reinvent them within a Western aesthetic and presentation.

艺术家将手绘丝绸绷在塑料圈上，圈很厚，因此形成两层影像。丝绸上绘制了包括艺术家在内的一些加拿大籍华裔妇女头像。一面是这些妇女在中国时的头像，一面是他们在加拿大时的头像。这两层影像创造出一个人的双重身份对话。这个艺术作品表达了艺术家对文化差异性的价值观。

艺术家选择了具有东方传统风味的材料，用西式的美学向人们展示她的想法。
