In ancient times, Pingtan is called “LAN”, while the dwelling place of “Cuo” is a traditional dwelling with distinctive features in Fujian province. The Koichi house is another escape from time, a search for the unexplored nostalgia and dreams of the past.

The original building connects the memories of the old Pingtan in the 1990s and retains the understanding of the spatial function and architectural beauty of the time. Therefore, we continue the original structure of the building, retain the existing patio, and sing a more contemporary poem with each stone and wood left behind in a new way.

The reeds all around listen to the historical stories of what happened by the sea, while the newly built windmills on the opposite shore towered up beyond the old landscape, making the building an overlap between the present and the past, and standing above the starting point and end point of the lonely sea that existed simultaneously.

When the grass is pleasant and the tides rise and fall with the moon, the sea is like the lines of poets on the opposite shore. The luminous mayflies spread over the beach, accumulating, and lengthening forward. The wind blew from all directions into the room, and here the visitors followed on their pillows, the stories of those who had not been brought here, those who had not come with them. Thus my thoughts crossed the threshold of the sun and the bed of the moon with the sea breeze, some left behind in the old clay POTS, some left behind in the old wooden doors.

As the space tries to explain some of the dreamless clues, it reconstructs the time and place in the mind that keeps recurring – as if all that is present is unreal and all that has long since vanished is real. So we shine our light on the furniture of the past, open the Windows in the walls where the wind must pass, and try to rely on this place to round out the fleeting dreams of the visitor.
