Focus on Human Beings’ Instinct Demands for Exploring and Discovering the Unknown
PONE ARCHITECTURE 从2009年至今关注人对探索、发现未知的本能需求，进行了系列研究与实践：人与环境、人与建筑、人与空间的关系，不是单一建造墙体将空间划分，对立的0和1关系，需要有不同程度的互动深度和启发思考，激发多样性体验的潜力。
2015 PONE ARCHITECTURE 体验馆（广州设计周）尝试再发掘构造秩序交替潜力，带着如何统合建筑，使城市、环境、人和空间延伸出更丰满互动与交融的疑问，创造建筑装置【透明之壳】。
Since 2009, PONE ARCHITECTURE has been focusing on human beings’ instinct demands for exploring and discovering the known. A series of researches and practices have been carried out, including relationships between human beings and environment, between human beings and architecture and between human beings and space. Instead of separating space by simply building walls and forming an antagonistic relationship, deep interaction and thought provoking of different degrees were needed to simulate the potential of diversified experience.
2015 PONE ARCHITECTURE Experience Pavilion(Guangzhou Design Week) attempted to rediscover the alternating potential of order construction. Urged by the question on how to integrate architecture to further interact and blend cities, environments, human beings and space, it created the construction unit “Transparent Shell”.
Meanwhile, it is also a reflection on creating and recreating.
The whole device consists of 30 main bone models and 3 groups of large-radian curves.
Through multiple layers of woven and criss-cross transparent films, an interface of dynamic tension was folded up, with the whole space filled with flowing dynamic.
Between blends and conflicts, there would come into being various function spaces, such as entrance, wall, ceiling, window, desktop or seat area. Visitors could feel free to use them and imagine the meaning of various “shell” functions, thus constructing a space with “flexible functions”.
Being translucent and unstable, spaces gleam with light and shadow and keep changing between manifestation and fading.
Multi-layer open combinations are the new representation and interpretation of internal and external open sites that interact both inside and outside.

Inspiration•Constructing Blends and Conflicts
Based on concepts, Transparent Shell gains inspiration from a rich variety of sequences in nature. By dissecting, extracting shell structure and restructuring, it reveals the tension of life evolution.
Conch-shape helix is blended with vertical, balanced, stable and standard three-dimensional grid. Density and depth of different degrees are on one hand, in mutual erosion, harmony and coexistence and on the other hand, in antagonism, competition and conflict.

Texture•Manifestation and Fading
Transparent films are chosen to connect the interface of the shell. They are woven like silks, stable but also taking on an organic and casual form. Penetrated by the light, the texture produces a flexible and changing effect of light and shadow, thus constructing a translucent, dim, intensity-varying, stable and uncertain world.

Prototype• Undulation and Crisscrossing
Vision: The main body of the device is made up of metal frames and a large number of irregular curved steels. Each of 30 arched frames is varying in its undulating rhythm, irregular and polydirectional. It is a big challenge as to how to accurately capture the localization and highly restore the overall form.
We made a lot of experiments and eventually came up with the simplest and most effective method.
The curves in the helix were picked out for accurate radian in each segment so as to get the accurate nodes. Then, the 3-d coordinates of each node was positioned in the space, based on which another curve was made by stretching steel pipes. Then they were welded into groups for interconnection in groups. Finally, a 3-d dynamic and freely-crisscrossing helix skeleton prototype came into being.

An In-process Performance Art
After the skeleton was assembled, transparent films should be used to link the interface.
Step 1 base laying: transparent films were used to twine keels so as to produce viscous sublayers.
Step 2 silk stroking: the methods of rolled folding and stretching were employed to provide the ordinary electrostatic transparent films with a silk-like quality and flowing mercerization, thin but tenacious.
Step 3 weaving: films were divided into groups. Through static electricity and viscous quality, the wire-drawing transparent films were woven, stretched and glued onto the base interface. In this way, a complete shell gradually came into being.
The whole weaving process is like silkworms spinning cocoons.
Tests on the connection order were constantly carried out to control the direction and density of wires so as to achieve the ideal effects.
This state of close collaboration involving multiple individuals enabled all “cocoon spinning”participants to enjoy this experiencing creation process, so the significance of process outweighs that of result.
“Shell” forms a traction and coalesces the interaction between thoughts and actions. This is not so much a construction process as a show of“performance art”.
Under the dual interaction between thought and space, there came into being a new type of experience in the Transparent Shell, which even surpassed the sense of reality brought by thoughts themselves. Therefore, Transparent Shell activated space behaviors from multiple thinking levels, discovered and explored the interactive space constructed by human beings and architecture and created behavior connection with new thoughts. In the Transparent Shell, one could explore and walk around at will and imagine freely, during which one’s vision, audition and perception were aroused, thus realizing the infinite thinking within the architectural space as well as profound insight and awareness in a simple, natural and primitive way. This is where the charm of space and source of thought lies—modern architecture, in addition to its functions, should be the carrier of humanity and free will.
