马家浜文化是中国长江下游地区的新石器时代文化,因为浙江省嘉兴市南湖乡天带桥村马家浜遗址而得名,在此考古发现了距今七千年的原始聚落生活,被称之为“江南文化之源”。博物馆的设计提取了聚落的原始居住图景和江南房院格局,通过对“聚落和院落”的重组演绎,与遥远的文明建立起跨时空的默契。场地内保留了大片原生旷野和水系资源,周边环境的自然肌理通过合理的转译融入到建筑形态当中,因此整个建筑以一种低调的姿态隐匿于自然环境当中,充分体现了建筑对马家浜文化遗址的尊重。

The Majiabang culture is a neolithic culture in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China. It’s named after the site of The Majiabang heritage site in Tiandianqiao Village, Nanhu Town, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province, where the original settlement life dating back to 7000 years ago has been discovered. The area is also called ‘the source of Jiangnan culture’. The design of the museum extracts the idea from the original scenes of life in the settlement and the typology of local dwellings, and recalls the ancient civilization across time and space by recombinating and reinterpretating ‘settlement and courtyard’. The site retains a large area of native wilderness and water resources with the natural texture of the surrounding environment integrated into the architectural form through reasonable redesign. Therefore, the whole museum is hidden in the natural environment in a humble manner, which shows great respect for the ruins of Majiabang culture.

项目背景
Background

马家浜文化因发掘于浙江省嘉兴市马家浜遗址而得名,主要分布于太湖地区,南达浙江的钱塘江北岸,西北至江苏常州一带。据放射性碳素断代并经校正,年代约始于公元前5000年,距今有7000多年的历史。马家浜文化及其后续的崧泽文化、良渚文化的发现及确立,表明太湖地区的新石器文化源远流长、自成系统,具有鲜明的地域特色。

项目位于马家浜文化遗址东南角,根据当地政府对全国重点文化保护单位的规划构想,马家浜文化博物馆的建设以“国内一流、国际影响”为建馆目标,是一所以马家浜文化为主题,强调科普性、知识性、教育性的史前文化博物馆。

The Majiabang culture, named after the Majiabang site excavated in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, is mainly distributed in the Taihu Lake area, south to the northern bank of the Qiantang River in Zhejiang province, and northwest to Changzhou, Jiangsu province. According to the radiocarbon dating and correction, Majiabang culture , which has a history of more than 7000 years, was first appeared in 5000 BC. The discovery and establishment of The Majiabang culture and its subsequent Songze culture and Liangzhu culture indicate that the Neolithic culture in The Taihu Lake area has a long history and distinct regional characteristics.

The Majiabang museum, located in southeast corner of sites, sets the goal of ‘domestic first-class museum with great international influence’, according to the local government’s plan for national cultural heritage protection units. It is a museum of prehistoric culture with Majiabang culture as its theme, emphasizing science popularization, knowledge and education.

形体生成及功能布局
Functional Layout

建筑通过几个简单纯粹的原型单元体拼接组合,形成了一个有趣的游览序列,就像原始的聚落一样,每个单体之间形成了迂迂回回的小路。博物馆的展览、休憩空间沿着这条路径展开,入口处通过一个角院拉开博物馆的浏览序幕,有一种沉稳大气的代入感。进到门厅后正对着主展厅,而主展厅紧邻的天井两侧穿通,重叠着三重空间:门厅、天井、休息厅和远处的遗迹。一条狭长的通道引导着人们沿着转向东侧继续前进。空间随着行进变得愈发明亮开阔,茂盛的农田在眼前横向展开,远处青年雕塑家的作品与室内空间形成对景,建立起一种静默的对话。博物馆的研究办公、库房区间沿南侧布置,与参观区域相隔离,相对静谧。

The building forms an interesting tour sequence through the joining together of several simple and pure prototype units, which, like the original settlements, form circuitous pathes between each unit. The exhibition space and rest space of the museum unfold along this path. The entrance opens the browsing prelude of the museum through a corner courtyard, with a sense of calm atmosphere. After entering the foyer, the main exhibition hall is flanked by adjacent patios and overlapped by a triple space of foyers, patios, lounges and distant ruins. A long narrow passage leads people along a turn to the east. The space becomes more and more bright and open with the progress. Lush farmland spreads out horizontally in the front. The works of young sculptors in the distance form a scene opposite to the interior space, establishing a silent dialogue. The research office and warehouse area of the museum are arranged along the south side, isolated from the visiting area and relatively quiet.

意象与材质
Intention and the image

基地周围遗址出土的陶器,是马家浜文化的典型特征,我们通过运用陶土色的清水混凝土,还原出一处具有原生态质感的远古文明展示“容器”。阳光帮助刻画出细腻的建筑细部,在几个简洁的庭院空间里,无时无刻不在为建筑带来改变。不同于光洁的现代立面材质,这种粗糙的、经过原始手段处理的材料,使其更容易接受时间和大自然的影响。在不同气候下,随着温度、湿度、以及时间的差异,墙面也变幻着不同的色彩。仿佛有了生命般,融入这片田野。

The pottery unearthed from the site around the base is a typical feature of The Majiabang culture. We restore the “container” of the ancient civilization with the original ecological texture by using clear concrete in the color of clay. The sunlight helps to delineate the delicate details of the building, which is constantly changing in several simple courtyards. Unlike the polished modern facade material, this rough, raw material makes it more open to the influences of time and nature. In different climates, the walls change colour with temperature, humidity and time. The museum seemed to come to life, melting into the field.

空间特色
The Function and rationality

游廊:时空长廊 | Veranda: corridor of time and space

游廊的东侧是城市,西侧是马家浜文化遗址,东西两面分别代表着两个不同的时代,穿越其中犹如置身于时光长廊。游廊同时也是各种功能的中枢场所, 南北两侧分布着各个展馆、多功能厅等空间。

On the east side of the veranda is the city, and on the west side is ruins of Majiabang culture. The east and west sides represent two different eras. Passing through them is like being in the corridor of time. At the same time, the veranda is also the central place for various functions, with various pavilions and multi-function halls distributed on both sides of the south and north.

庭院:转折空间 | Courtyard: Turning space

建筑形体间自然形成了五个庭院,形成了室内功能交接处有趣的过渡,在空间转承启合的节点处,形成了每个庭院独特的性格,点缀并丰富了整个建筑的空间体验。

Five courtyards are naturally formed between the forms of the building, forming an interesting transition at the intersections of the interior functions. At the nodes where the space turns to connect, the unique character of each courtyard is formed, which adorns and enriches the spatial experience of the whole building.

观景台:与遗址对话 | Observation deck: Dialogue with the site

朝向马家浜遗址方向,是一面全景打开的视窗,作为参观的终点,序列在此被推向高潮,吸引着人群走向遗址。

In the direction of the Majiabang site, a panoramic window opens as the end point of the visit, where the sequence is pushed to its climax and draws the crowd towards the site.

结语
Epilogue

聚落是人与人共同生活的模式,是人与自然共同发展的产物,在马家浜文化博物馆设计中,我们秉承着这一份与原始社会共同的默契,创造出一个合理的“容器”和“场所”,将马家浜文化的精神内涵及物质遗存一并呈现给公众。

Settlement is the pattern of common people life. the product of the common development of human and nature. In Majiabang cultural museum design, we adhere to this tacit understanding with the primitive society, create a reasonable ‘container’ and ‘place’ to present the spiritual connotation and material remains of The Majiabang culture to the public.
