The Lollapalooza Chile’s Green Village Pavilion project corresponds to an artifact that articulates the construction of a modulated and recognizable by the versatility of an efficient and expressive constructing system space. To accomplish the user’s division with the environment a protected and shadow-filled perimeter is constructed through a removable and incremental configuration.

The work consists in the settlement of an area for the promotion of environmental care-related companies and institutions which is developed by two separated but complementary bodies: the bigger one designated to stands and the smaller one to the meeting of the show’s participants. Both bodies share a common material pattern but their formal configuration differs to establish spatialities according to each show.

The body for stands consists of three strips that makes up a triangle and respects the layout of the trees for its development producing an airtight perimeter that forms an interior void populated by trees. This void is established as a shared patio for people’s transit and rest, isolated from the festival and condensing the atmosphere according to the exhibition. On the other hand, the second smaller body consists in a square-shaped floor that circles a tree which creates the body’s interior atmosphere. It is structured with a double height module filtering the lights and shadows through its translucent walls.

The limited time for the work’s execution and the magnitude of the intervention forced the definition of a constructive system that optimized the process being at the same time the very expression of the pavilion. This way a two-element system was designed: light galvanized steel profiles (METALCOM) and white reusable polycarbonate sheets (DVP). The materiality of both bodies gives a double perception of the pavilion: The structure diagrams the layout of enclosures and configures the space, the translucent enclosure captures the projected shadows of the trees on the curved surfaces in the day and during the night it’s transformed into a lighted signal amid the park’s trees.
