Eli Armon is not an architect. Well sure, that’s what he’s been doing for over 40 years. But in many ways that’s not the first thing you would say after meeting him.

He is many things. He carries himself like a Hebrew samurai, a person with a higher calling. For him architecture is a vehicle, a vehicle for this calling. He is a Dan 6 black belt in the school of Dennis survival jiu-jitsu. He is a Lieutenant Colonel (reserve) in the IDF and a frequent lecturer of leadership and values for the highest ranking officers in the Israeli army.

Eli Armon fuses between the personal and the professional, the mundane and the existential, the past and the future in a unique yet seamless fashion. He is fueled by his incessant thirst for knowledge and his pursuit to connect these different sources with his own interpretation. He draws inspiration from the Hebrew language, the Kabbalah, the Jewish tradition, the land of Israel – its scenery, history and culture, and of course with his life-long commitment to the martial arts.

For Eli Armon architecture is victory, hence the term architect of victory. There is a cognitive correspondence between military leadership and architecture. As in the battlefield, his work aims to identify the root and origin and to build around it.
