Lake views, modern architecture and luxury accommodations combine to great effect at Filario Hotel & Residences, an elegant and contemporary property set on the edge of Lake Como in northern Italy.

Prior to opening, the main building—once the site of a wire factory—was sympathetically renovated so as not to distort the surrounding landscape, and with stunning results. Every corner now provides unique yet equally stunning views of the surrounding landscape, while the property itself cuts a harmonious silhouette on the idyllic Lake Como.

Inside, interiors are led by Italian artisanship, with guestrooms and apartments furnished with pieces gathered from the neighboring design-savvy city of Cantù, and dressed in a palette of warm browns, taupe and grey by Italian designer Alessandro Agrati, whose signature play on light and texture is also present. History, tradition and nature are key mainstays here—at the newly opened fine dining restaurant Filo, simple and authentic Italian cuisine is complemented by stunning lake views, while accommodations in the newly built lakeside units are finished with private sunlit terraces and, in some cases, gardens.
