设计概述：
项目地块位于上海外滩15号甲，置身于外滩万国建筑群中，面向黄浦江。基地现为一片空地，并紧邻地块的两个历史建筑。新植入建筑定位为外滩的旅客中心，包括旅客服务，展览，会展和商业等功能的综合体。
如何在这个“空墟”中通过设计进行“填充”，使外滩的万国建筑群界面得到延续，同时赋予新建筑现代的功能使其活化，并体现外滩历史价值是本案设计重点。这个方案不完全是改造再利用，而更多是历史街区的“FILL IN”,因此我更倾向于称之为”城市补牙“。
以”FILL IN”的城市概念，用类似外滩金融建筑的粗糙硬质的体量来填充这个城市空隙。从外滩景观，周边历史建筑立面肌理和采光等需求方面入手，对形体进行切割，加工使新建筑能真正融入外滩建筑群。基于外滩城市功能对城市绿地，休闲场所的需求，本案切割出面向黄浦江的不同标高的空中绿化平台庭院。不同功能体块与这些绿化平台相间分区，并挤压在这个“涩砾”体中。建筑被整合到万国建筑群中，同时也是城市空间的垂直延展。这个旅客中心邀请人们聚集一起，环形和穿越，探索和观察，同时向陆家嘴和黄浦江打开。具有雕塑感的建筑体量与外滩建筑群构成了特别的场景，将是城市的催化剂，并点亮整个外滩。
“补牙”城市填充——基地的空墟必须通过一个与周边环境，临近建筑的肌理材质相适应的体量来填空，并使场地变得积极，外滩界面变得完整。
“涩砾”——外滩的万国建筑群都是”石头“的建筑艺术，因此以一种石头雕刻般的形式置入环境中，并通过切割等形式操作使其与周边融合。新建筑将成为老外滩上的一颗具有标志性时尚的“涩砾”。
外形切割与空间挖空—— 在这个“涩砾”中，通过体量的切削，在老建筑与新建筑之间形成了几个”光庭“和庭院，通过空间的挖空，形成不同的功能区块，并面向黄浦江形成了不同层高的空中花园。通过外形立面上的控制，使建筑与相邻历史建筑的立面肌理融合。
层压的多种功能混合体—— 相对外滩其它建筑的功能，该建筑是一个为旅客提供多种服务的综合体，其中有旅客信息服务功能，商业功能，文化活动功能和展示功能等。这些功能与连接城市的空中公园想错地层压在这个”石体“当中。
空中庭院与框景—— 垂直分布的四个空中公园作为城市空间延伸的一部分，这种半室外半室内的景观空间，可以成为公众的交流互动场所，也是功能区块之间的缓冲区域。这些不同层高空中景观空间各具特色，并框取外滩的城市景观，尽收于内。
天际线与立面的重组—— 建筑高度在这个历史区域是严格限定的，如何通过天际线的轮廓和立面形式的重组，关乎于新置入的建筑与周边建筑群之间的融合。
流线的联结——这是一个功能混合体，流线组织需要弹性，水平的空中庭院与垂直的交通核心是整个流线组织的核心。坡道与庭院的结合使人们徜徉于建筑各功能之间，垂直的交通梯也使人快捷到达特定功能空间。
光庭与内院——历史建筑与新建筑之间形成了内院光庭，历史建筑的界面与新建筑在庭院中相遇并置，独特的历史感和时尚感互相映衬。
发光表皮与夜景——变色的表皮和内部灯光随季节而变化，与整个外滩灯光夜景相呼应，独特而玄幻。
I’d like to call this project “URBAN PROSTHESIS” due to its infilling-redevelopment ofthe site. The site locates in The Bund No.15. The Bund is one of the mostfamous tourist destinations of Shanghai whichcenters within the former Shanghai International Settlement, runs along the western bank of Huangpu River & faces Pudong.As we know the buildings & some adjacent areas of The Bund, have greathistorical value that still reveal historicalperspective of Shanghai.
Due to long-time ago inexistence ofthe original building, the site becomes a “junk space” filling disorder &uglytemporarybuildings which conflicts the urban area of The Bund. This “urban void” resultsin rupture of skyline, disconnection of façade with neighbors in street view, disability in urbanfunction development, which “URBAN PROSTHESIS” acting as conjunction is requested to infill.
The client wills to set up a multi-function complex which will act an importantrole in this area, become a tourist-attraction node, and be harmony with thesurrounding. According this we propose several concepts in this project.
Prosthesis—— this void will be infilled by a mass whose material & texture is similarwith old buildings of The Bund: solid, monolithic entity. Significantly thisprosthesis entity will be reformed to suit functional request of neighborbuildings & itself, urban environmental condition.
Contour & space-Excavation——space excavated from the giant mass volume, so thatvarious kinds of space are created, semi-indoor platform, hanging gardenlandscape & functional inner-space. etc. also the whole contour still matchthe outside environment.
Function multi-development-interchange & lamination—— all buildings of The Bund are financial function, so amultifunction complex for tourist is need. This complex will contain touristservice & information function ,commercial function ,cultural activity& exhibition function. Repast function & viewing unit etc. Thesecomplex will be laminated-arranged in the monolithic entity.
Aerialviewing-platform landscape——the site is too small to have enough green publicspace. Vertically 4 kinds of aerial landscape is inserted among those functionalcomplex. These semi-outdoor landscape also act as viewing platform, landscape courtyard,coffee lounge ,etc.
Skyline & façade-reconnecting—— building height in this area is restricted. Theskyline & façade design is a important aspect of this project. Reconnectingthe “void” is necessary.
Circulation-interlink——An integral circuitous circulation interlink with each function complex, which peoplecan penetrates though all function complex. Also people can be transit byvertical communication core.
“Changing envelop”—— electric-control printed glass forms the architectural skin coveringthe monolithic entity, these “envelop” thing is changing its color in order to increaseits landmark attraction.
