Appreciation towards Atelier cnS for providing the following description:

东江之星万科首铸广场位于东莞万江区宏远路，港口大道和鸿福西路三大主干道交汇处。是万江区域的中心，政府希望有一个地标型的雕塑揭示其方位性，所以在接到这个项目的时候，就要求对当地的历史文化以及地名表达做出回应。东莞万科集团非常希望这个装置能在体现形式上尽量当代。

Dongjiang Star Vanke Shouzhu Plaza is located in Wanjiang, Dongguan District at the intersection of the three main roads, Hongyuan Road, Harbor Avenue and Hongfu West Road. It is the centre of Wanjiang. The government hopes there’ll be a landmark sculpture to indicate its orientation. Therefore, when this project is being conceived, it is required to respond to the local history culture and the expressions of place names. Dongguan Vanke Group as the contractor of the project does hope the expressive form could be as contemporary as possible.

基于两方面的诉求，通过对万江地区历史以及资料的整理，在对场地做出回应的同时，将地图抽象以及万江区最为重要的“水”作为主题元素，有了“潮起万江”的初步概念。

Based on the two requirements and the research of the history data of Wanjiang region, the abstracted map and the most important “river” in Wanjiang District were used as the theme elements to respond to the site, and the preliminary concept of “Rising Tide” was formed.

最终，艺术装置长17.5米，宽8米，高9米，基座表面采用波纹不锈钢，很好的体现光影流动感也作为水的具体体现，其独特的反射成影肌理，增加了人和装置的互动性。装置上部由十万余根杆件组成，提取了万江区位的轮廓并进行了艺术化的处理。其中置入1600片直径210毫米的圆形不锈钢风动片，并由直径8毫米的不锈钢棒支撑，当风吹过，风动片反射的光影形成一片流动的蓝色光海，同时金属的碰击声也让装置产生风铃的效果。

在“万江”主题字设计手法上，打破常规的呈现手法，将字体前后打散，用解构理念分置于不同的框架层内，在正视角度，是完整的“万江”二字，而在观看发生位移时，视觉效果也呈更为抽象的像素型变化。

Finally, the art installation is 17.5 meters long, 8 meters wide and 9 meters high. The surface of the base is made of corrugated stainless steel. The upper part of the device was composed of more than 100,000 rods to shape the abstract outline of the map of Wanjiang. There are 1600 round stainless steel air moving slices with a diameter of 210 mm supported by stainless steel rods with a diameter of 8 mm. When the wind sways, the light and shadow reflected by the air moving slices form a flowing blue light sea. The sound also gives the effect of wind chimes.

In the design of the logo word “Wanjiang”, we break the conventional presentation. We scatter the texts and use the deconstruction concept to place them in different frame layers. In the front elevation, it is the complete word “Wanjiang”. As the view point shifts, the visual effect presents a more abstract pixel-like change.

装置于2019年11月正式落成，焦点聚集于对空间的体验式感知以及唤起当地人文元素的关系，以雕塑为手段在地域性与人文之间进行情感性的交流，在地标型大型艺术装置的形式语言上，做出了新的尝试。

The installation was officially completed in November 2019. It was focused on the experiential perception of space, evoking the relationship of local humanistic elements and using the sculpture as a method to communicate emotionally between the regional topic and humanities. A new attempt was made in the formal language of landmark art installations.
