According to the latest data from the World Health Organization website, until 4:45 on January 15, 2021, Beijing time, the number of confirmed cases worldwide has increased by 697,485 compared with the previous day, reaching 910,610,72. As the second Epidemic “Waves” intensified, the interval between every 10 million new cases has become shorter and shorter. It took only 15 days to go from 80 million to 90 million cases, which is shocking. In China, the epidemic that has been basically under control has also begun to show signs of resurgence. Although many areas where the epidemic broke out, except for Liaoning province, has been basically controlled. However, the epidemic in Hebei and Heilongjiang is still developing, while Beijing Due to its particularity, there is still great uncertainty in the situation. Since the beginning of winter, people have tightened their nerves once again. Therefore, our site hopes to take this opportunity to remind everyone to remain vigilant in the new year by reviewing the epidemic-related articles and cases published on the website from 2020 to 2021, and also hope to bring you more inspiration for using design to help fight the epidemic.

About History

Human history has been accompanied by disease, and with the development of science and technology, human beings from only leaving life to god and luck, gradually developed to understand the cause of disease and find treatment and prevention programs. Every major epidemic outbreak forces people to rethink urban planning and architectural design.
About Medical Resources

In the event of public health, ensuring adequate and complete medical resources is almost equivalent to keeping the lifeline of the people. What can architects do in this situation? The Vulcan Mountain Hospital, which took only 10 days from scheme design to completion and delivery, and the cabin hospital transformed from a large public building provide the most intuitive answers. But these temporary hospitals were all remedies after the break of mass infection. How to be prepared before the disaster, let us review the point of view of Vincent Zhang, founder and chief architect of Lemanarc SA, about the medical architecture design under the background of the epidemic.

About Education

COVID-19 has turned the world of  education upside down. After years of wondering if online learning would ever upend place-based learning, it suddenly did… Christina Paxon, President of Brown University believes that students still need to learn from a face-to-face educational environment. Therefore, after the resumption of offline teaching, ensuring the safe social distance in the face-to-face education environment has become the key point in the design.

About Daily Life

The outbreak of covid-19 has had a huge impact on the economies of all countries, exposing the imbalance between supply and demand. For example, many households fear a shortage of toilet paper. In addition to actively respond to the crisis by changing the business model, we also need to maintain a good attitude for showing our courage and confidence in the face of adversity.
