The design/buildLAB is an educational, research and community service initiative of the LabEx AE&CC at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Grenoble. This experiential learning master’s program focuses onthe research, development and implementation of ecologically, socially and culturally responsible architecture. Students collaborate with local communities and construction experts to conceive and realise built works of architecture that are both formative and philanthropic in nature. The aspiration of the master is to reinforce the competence and confidence of future generations of architects to confront the environmental and social issues of tomorrow. It situates itself within the context of the French Ministry of Culture’s National Strategy for Architecture which aims to”transform the act of building for tomorrow”. It is co-taught by the LabEx AE&CC’s teaching and research team.
