Our main task is scientific activity, which is closely tied to educational activity. We also support professional commercial activities and national and international standardization. Most of the above-mentioned activities within the Czech Technical University in Prague. We entered history as the first research institute at CTU and ranked among the four oldest independent research institutes in Europe. The Institute was founded in 1921 under the name Research and Testing Institute of Materials and Building Constructions.
